Laura Palumbo’s first CD “A Little Time Away” features 11 powerful pop rock gems.

A little time away

The creative person often finds it difficult to function in a conventional relationship because the creative soul can be a demanding son of a bitch.
ZFact : Chris and I were working on another song but I was getting tired and stepped out for a breath of fresh air. I returned refreshed and with a new idea that eventually became a little time away.

Light me up

I started writing this song in the wee hours in my basement. I was exhausted after a long day of Dr. Laura- ville medicine woman. It started out as my disco masterpiece....all about the joys of sexy time and letting go of inhibitions. Gee what’s not to like. When Chris heard it he loved it. As we continued to work on the song it began to evolve into more dance/rock than disco.
ZFact : I think this song would make a great “pump up the team” sports anthem. I like to imagine muscular men wearing nothing but tiny white towels jumping around pumping their fists in the air …..er ….I betta stop now.

Heaven on Earth

Zebro and I just started playing....me on the Motif...Zebro on his PRS Chris could hear we were on to something right away so he hit the record button....Zebro and I got tired and went to bed (oh for godsake different beds!) but Chris couldn’t sleep and stayed up to the break of dawn working on the lyrics.
ZFact : We had all just watched Zeitgeist earlier that evening and without doubt the movie strongly influenced our song.

All that I want to be

I penned this one while I was supposed to be studying for my final board certification exam (nothing like multi-tasking!). I used my trusty ol’ Yamaha keyboard. The song was brilliant (in my humble opinion) then Chris got involved and made it better (Chris made me write that last bit).
ZFact : I’m not sure why, but this song seems to perfectly represent my curious duality… Dr Laura, respected member of the community and Laura Palumbo dangerous rocker babe!

U R (First Single)

This song went through several treatments but really came to life when Chris figured out the opening chugging guitar riff.
ZFact : I wrote the first verse about a guy I was dating Chris wrote the second verse about me …ok I made that up.

Heaven

This song states the obvious - sex is fun. It had no other purpose than an excuse to rock out and sing about sex. How can you beat that?
ZFact : The lover in this song only exists as a naughty thought in my head.

Roller coaster

A song about an on again / off again toxic relationship. The happy highs the sucky lows…but it’s all very danceable.
ZFact : Roller coaster, thirsting for and thin line were all written on the same night.

What are you thirsting for?

I started this one in my basement on my sweet sounding casio organ. The melody is mine but Chris pushed the lyrics in an entirely different direction. The song eventually became a response to the continual repetitive crazy shit that happens all around the world. The song is a question to the rich and the powerful: What are you thirsting for?>
ZFact : The original casio “scratch” take is still in the song with some funky distortion.

Rainy day

This song was written on a Sunday afternoon after one of my famous gourmet breakfast extravaganzas. It was raining and spring was in the air. The song started with some lazy tinkling on a piano.
ZFact : Imagine a space with a marble floor, cathedral high ceiling and a piano so rare that it is one of only a handful in North America. The piano sits in front of glass window 20 feet high that overlooks a stunning garden. The acoustics in the room are perfect and rainy day almost writes itself.

Thin line

Fragility. Rebound. Decision. Rejection. The crossing of a line and the letting go of regret.
ZFact : Chris was teaching me some guitar stuff and the song started to evolve during the guitar lesson.

I can't help myself

A mushy song about my boyfriend...yuk!! (I’m a rocker chick dammit!) I guess like every relationship (except Mike and Kelly) we’ve had our rocky times ...but we’ve also learnt a lot about each other and from each other. It’s been a trip babe.
ZFact : I imagined I was Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins as I sung this song…but with a full head of lovely shiny hair.
